Northside Methodist Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 37-25 to the Slocomb Red Tops. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Red Tops recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Weston Sasser was nothing short of spectacular for Slocomb: he rushed for 51 yards and three scores, and also threw for 98 yards and one touchdown on only nine passes. Sasser's passing game has become a key predictor of the Red Tops' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hayes Hatton, who rushed for 109 yards on only 15 carries.

Northside Methodist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Slocomb, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4.

Northside Methodist Academy and Slocomb could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Meanwhile, Slocomb (ranked 294th) will meet Montgomery Academy (ranked 96th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
