Soccer Game Preview: Jackson vs. Lamar County

The Jackson Red Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Lamar County Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Jackson, who comes in off a win.

Jackson will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Westside on Monday. The Red Devils walked away with a 6-4 win over the Seminoles. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Jackson's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Lamar County came up short against Academy for Classical Education on Thursday and fell 4-2. While losing is never fun, Lamar County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Academy for Classical Education are ranked 46th).

Raegyn Smith and Ava Bushby scored both of Lamar County's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Lamar County and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for Jackson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.

Jackson couldn't quite get it done against Lamar County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
