Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Tigers vs. Giddings Buffaloes

The Smithville Tigers will take on the Giddings Buffaloes at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Smithville is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering La Grange just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 61-46 bruising from the Leopards.

Meanwhile, Giddings was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a blow against Navasota, falling 59-15. While losing is never fun, the Buffaloes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1283rd, while the Rattlers are ranked 515th).

Giddings' defeat dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Smithville, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 20-9.

Smithville strolled past Giddings in their previous meeting on January 7th by a score of 45-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Smithville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
