Basketball Recap: Bear Creek's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Bear Creek needed a changed in momentum after dropping four straight games and they got it from Alen Avdic. The Bear Creek Bears came out on top against the Lakewood Tigers by a score of 63-53 on Saturday thanks in part to Avdic, who shot 6-for-7 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Lakewood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Quentin Wilson, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Bane, who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points.

Bear Creek's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-11. As for Lakewood, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-16.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Ralston Valley the next time they take the court. Bear Creek will head out to face Ralston Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lakewood will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
