Basketball Game Preview: Bluffton Bobcats vs. Wilson Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bobcats challenge the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bluffton sitting on ten straight victories and Wilson on six.

Bluffton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 64-54 win over Bishop England. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Battling Bishops are ranked 141st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Wilson beat Lakewood 58-53 on Monday.

Wilson's win came from a few key players Bluffton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Josh Leonard, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Tristan Thompson was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Bluffton pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points over those games. As for Wilson, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.
