Basketball Game Preview: Metro-East Lutheran Knights vs. Bunker Hill Minutemen

Having just played yesterday, the Metro-East Lutheran Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Bunker Hill Minutemen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Metro-East Lutheran and 19 for Bunker Hill.

On Friday, Metro-East Lutheran ended up a good deal behind Maryville Christian and lost 41-27.

Despite their defeat, Metro-East Lutheran saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alexa Stock, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Those nine points gave Stock a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Bunker Hill had to suffer through a 64-24 loss at the hands of New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while the Vipers are ranked 266th).

Bunker Hill's loss dropped their record down to 2-22. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-25.

Metro-East Lutheran suffered a grim 51-31 defeat to Bunker Hill in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Metro-East Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
