Basketball Game Preview: Kermit Yellow Jackets vs. Brownfield Cubs

Kermit hasn't had much luck against Brownfield recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Kermit Yellow Jackets will head out to square off against the Brownfield Cubs at 5:30 p.m. Kermit is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Kermit beat Presidio 30-23.

Aleixa Lara and Leylani Quiroz were among the main playmakers for Kermit as the former posted ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals and the latter had six points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Lara has posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Brownfield narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Crane 57-55.

Kermit's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Brownfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-19 record this season.

Kermit took a serious blow against Brownfield in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, falling 82-9. Can Kermit avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
