Basketball Recap: Gretna Drops Highest Score of Season Against Altavista

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gretna). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Altavista Colonels 73-41. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won six in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gretna to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashley Myers, who went 10 for 14 to rack up 29 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Myers a new career-high in points. Chinara Miller was another key player, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Gretna's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Altavista, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gretna will take on Nelson County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gretna is facing Nelson County at the right time seeing as Nelson County is stuck on a 17-game losing streak. As for Altavista, they will face off against Tunstall at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
