Baseball Recap: Maywood Academy Nighthawks vs. Marquez Gladiators

Maywood Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 16-0 to the Marquez Gladiators. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Maywood Academy of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Maywood Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorge Mireles, who went 2-for-2 with a stolen base.

On Marquez's side, Jaime Hernandez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
