Baseball Recap: Asheboro Drops Highest Score of Season Against Central Davidson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Asheboro). They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Central Davidson Spartans 7-5. This was a revenge game for the Blue Comets: when they faced off against the Spartans last Tuesday, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Asheboro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Gore, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Shane Immel, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Asheboro and bumps their season record up to 4-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Central Davidson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season.

Asheboro will face off against North Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Davidson will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Asheboro surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central Davidson, they are taking a road trip to take on Montgomery Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Davidson is facing Montgomery Central at the right time seeing as Montgomery Central is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
