Softball Recap: Shade's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Shade dropped their record down to 9-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They lost 15-2 to the Meyersdale Red Raiders. The Panthers were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Red Raiders' pitchers proved too tough.

Hayden Sheeler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Meyersdale, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Considering they have won eight matches by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Meyersdale's side, Keira Eberly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Jessica Daughton and Kendell Donaldson did most of the damage at the plate: Daughton went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double, while Donaldson got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, Donaldson posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emma Hobbs, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shade will take on Berlin Brothersvalley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Meyersdale, they will square off against Forbes Road at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
