Baseball Recap: Odin/Patoka/Sandoval's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Vandalia Vandals by a score of 6-3 on Thursday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Vandals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Austin Hoffman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Odin/Patoka/Sandoval is 2-1 when Hoffman allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Hoffman was also solid in the batter's box, earning three runs and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Spencer, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Heydin Purcell was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Vandalia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-16.

Coming up, Odin/Patoka/Sandoval will venture away from home to face off against Maryville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Vandalia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
