Baseball Recap: Lakeside Takes a Loss

Lakeside had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it five. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Poly Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Tuesday.

As for Poly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

For Poly's part, not much got past Keaton Pilliter, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Lakeside off the board. Pilliter also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bears are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Poly's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Islas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Lakeside didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-4 loss against Paloma Valley on the 22nd. As for Poly, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Valley View on the 22nd.
