It was a good run, but Austin unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Owatonna Huskies by a score of 54-52. The Packers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 62-54.

Owatonna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maryn Pool led the charge by putting up 12 points and three steals. Pool is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. Jersey Coleman was another key player, posting 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Austin's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4. As for Owatonna, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Austin and Owatonna should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. Austin will face off against Faribault at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 207 places (36 vs. 243). Austin will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Owatonna (ranked 42nd) will meet Winona (ranked 349th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
