Cary-Grove and Hampshire are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Whip-Purs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cary-Grove is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Prairie Ridge just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Wolves, falling 10-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered since May 1, 2024.

Cary-Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Francis Panko, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Panko's first of the season. Oskar Freund was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Hampshire hadn't done well against Huntley recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Whip-Purs walked away with an 8-3 win over the Red Raiders.

Calen Scheider made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Cary-Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Hampshire, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.

Cary-Grove couldn't quite get it done against Hampshire in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
