Football Recap: Clinton Prairie Takes a Loss

Clinton Prairie extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-5. They took a hard 25-8 fall against the Eastern Comets. If the Gophers were looking for revenge after losing 49-15 to the Comets when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gaige Kuzmicz threw for 84 yards on ten of 16 attempts. Alex King was his top target, picking up 67 receiving yards.

As for Eastern, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points over those games.

Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gibson Eagle, who threw for 144 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 72 yards on only nine carries. The Comets' leading receiver Bently Hullinger was Eagle's top target yet again, picking up 85 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Clinton Prairie and Eastern are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After each having a week off, the Gophers and Sheridan will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Eastern, they will challenge Blackford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets will be up against the Bruins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
