Basketball Recap: West Wendover Starts Season with Win Against Virginia City

West Wendover gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 81-30 victory over the Virginia City Muckers. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-23.

Esteban Correa was a one-man wrecking crew as he shot 64% from the field to rack up 23 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Isreal Cornejo, who went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Virginia City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, West Wendover will take on Lincoln County at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Virginia City, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-36 win against Pahranagat Valley on the 5th.
