Softball Game Preview: Eastbrook Panthers vs. Alexandria-Monroe Tigers

Eastbrook is 2-8 against Alexandria-Monroe since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eastbrook is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Madison-Grant 15-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Eastbrook got a massive performance out of Randy Casto, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Casto a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyvia Pumroy, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Eastbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, while Alexandria-Monroe put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Tipton. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Blue Devils. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Jacklynn Hosier was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Riley Thomas was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Alexandria-Monroe's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Eastbrook, their record is now 14-11.

Eastbrook might still be hurting after the 10-3 defeat they got from Alexandria-Monroe in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
