Baseball Game Preview: Frostproof Bulldogs vs. Lakeland Christian Vikings

Frostproof hasn't had much luck against Lakeland Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Frostproof is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Tenoroc an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Frostproof got a massive performance out of Bradley Roberts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Roberts has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-13 otherwise. Ricky Wilson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Frostproof always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Lakeland Christian waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Wildcats.

Peyton Rutledge looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mookie Rodriguez was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lakeland Christian's record now sits at 18-6. As for Frostproof, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14.

Frostproof might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Lakeland Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
