Basketball Recap: Swink Comes Up Short

Swink was the 22-17 winner over Las Animas when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Swink Lions fell 47-39 to the Las Animas Trojans on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Swink saw an underclassman step up: freshman Laney James posted 11 points. Miley James was another key player, putting up seven points.

Las Animas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mayela Magana, who earned 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jadann Eck, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Swink's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Las Animas, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Swink didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-38 defeat against Fowler on the 1st. As for Las Animas, they have also already played their next game, a 48-24 loss against Hoehne on the 1st.
