If Independence wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played James Monroe, they should've done a better job of containing Maggie Boroski. The James Monroe Mavericks blew past the Independence Patriots 47-21 on Friday thanks in part to Boroski, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Ava Dunlap was another key player, putting up four points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, don't look at Harmony Mills. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points and five rebounds.

The victory (which was James Monroe's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Independence, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

James Monroe won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Parkersburg South at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Parkersburg South is coming into the game with three straight losses on the road, meaning James Monroe will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
