Softball Recap: Orthopaedic Drops Season-High Score on Animo Bunche

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orthopaedic). Everything went their way against the Animo Bunche Stallions on Thursday as they made off with a 21-6 victory. The Vipers haven't had any issues with the Stallions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Brianna Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 6-for-6 with one home run, eight stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniela Ceja, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-6. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Natalie Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Orthopaedic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Orthopaedic now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Animo Bunche, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Orthopaedic will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Central City Value at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vipers will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Animo Bunche, they are taking a road trip to take on Downtown Magnets at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
