Basketball Recap: Manteo Redskins vs. Pasquotank County Panthers

Manteo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt an 82-53 loss at the hands of the Pasquotank County Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 90-62 last Wednesday.

Despite the defeat, Manteo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zay Banks posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Markus Simmons also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Leading Pasquotank County to victory were Branden Smith and Jamari Seymore. Smith went 8 for 9 en route to 19 points and six boards, while Seymore went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks. That's the most blocks Seymore has posted since back in February of 2024. Jayon Harris was another key player, putting up ten points.

Manteo's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Pasquotank County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manteo will square off against Holmes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pasquotank County, they will face off against Camden County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
