Volleyball Preview: Straughn Tigers vs. Andalusia Bulldogs
The Straughn Tigers will challenge the Andalusia Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Straughn will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, Straughn made easy work of New Brockton and carried off a 3-0 victory. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Tigers this season.
The final score came out to 25-8, 25-19, 25-17.
Straughn had a senior duo take command as Claire Howe had 11 digs, five kills, and four aces and Presley Melvin had 23 digs. That's the most aces Howe has posted since back in October of 2023.
Meanwhile, Andalusia sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Opp on Tuesday.
Andalusia took Opp into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-21, 25-21, 15-25, 15-10.
Straughn's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Andalusia, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Straughn was able to grind out a solid victory over Andalusia in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 3-1. Does Straughn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Andalusia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
