Softball Recap: Boyertown's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Boyertown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Downingtown West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Boyertown's pitcher stepped up to hand Downingtown West a 10-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Kyra Neiswender made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lindsay Mathias, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Mathias is crushing it when it comes to home runs: she's launched at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Jenna Fox also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Boyertown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive matches.

Boyertown's record now sits at 4-1. As for Downingtown West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Boyertown will head out to take on Upper Perkiomen at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Downingtown West, they will host Oxford at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Downingtown West is facing Oxford at the right time seeing as Oxford is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
