The Walnut Ridge Bobcats will take on the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Walnut Ridge's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Sloan-Hendrix has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
It was a proper cat-fight when Walnut Ridge duked it out with Manila on Monday. The Bobcats walked away with an 8-3 win over the Lions. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Ashtyn Bradley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Walnut Ridge let Whitley White and Karlee Broadway run wild. White went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Broadway scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most RBI White has posted since back in March. Lyla Woods was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Sloan-Hendrix's offense. They came up short against Tuckerman on Monday, falling 12-0. Considering the last time the Greyhounds couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Sloan-Hendrix saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Brown hit this season.
Sloan-Hendrix's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Walnut Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Walnut Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Sloan-Hendrix struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
