Baseball Game Preview: Pembroke Hill Raiders vs. Van Horn Falcons

The Pembroke Hill Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Van Horn Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Pembroke Hill has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Saturday, Pembroke Hill needed a bit of extra time to put away Warrensburg. They had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-3. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by just one run.

Pembroke Hill let Jack Passan and Eli Sitzer run wild. Passan went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Sitzer went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Van Horn fell victim to Lincoln College Prep and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Blue Tigers, falling 11-0. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Blue Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Pembroke Hill is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Van Horn, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Van Horn's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pembroke Hill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. It's a different story for Van Horn, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Pembroke Hill's hitters?

Pembroke Hill beat Van Horn 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
