Baseball Game Preview: Pewaukee Pirates vs. Catholic Memorial Crusaders

The Pewaukee Pirates will head out to take on the Catholic Memorial Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pewaukee knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Catholic Memorial likes a good challenge.

Pewaukee gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against New Berlin West as they made off with an 18-3 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Catholic Memorial beat Oak Creek 8-4 on Thursday.

Chase Thomas tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Ian Kawczynski was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Catholic Memorial: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Chase Freschi was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run.

Pewaukee's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Catholic Memorial, their record is now 7-10.

Everything went Pewaukee's way against Catholic Memorial in their previous meeting back in June of 2022, as Pewaukee made off with an 11-5 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
