Friday just wasn't the day for SouthWest Edgecombe's offense. They lost 8-0 to the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders on Friday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Connor Wolfe was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, SouthWest Edgecombe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Ayers, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

SouthWest Edgecombe's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
