League recap: Kois races to league-leading run for Thornton

Adrian Kois of Thornton ran for the longest rushing play in 5A East Metro this season against Hinkley last week. Kois' team lost to the Thunderbirds as he sprinted for 71 yards on the play and finished with 112 in all.

Fans got a thrill when Ben Meraz and Tavish Whelan connected against Legend. The connection went for 75 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Demitri Montour was the best wideout in the league this week as Thornton fell to Hinkley. Montour tallied 4 receptions for 100 yards. Cuper Torres helped Thornton's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 70 yards.

Edgar Saenz put up the best numbers through the air as Lincoln defeated Kennedy. He finished with 5 completions for 104 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Kois was the best running back in 5A East Metro this week. Demario Orozco also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.

Mike Marquez's team's Marcus Del Hierro and Montour have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Del Hierro has thrown for 189 yards this season, while Montour, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 4 catches for 100 yards. Prairie View's Cole Barone leads the league in rushing yards with 385.

Westminster and Fossil Ridge played the closest game in the league this week, with Westminster eventually emerging with a 24-23 victory.
