Basketball Recap: Pauline Ocharo and Liakoula Umuumulovo Secure Win for West Point

There's no place like home for West Point, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past the Shadow Ridge Stallions 38-35. This was a revenge game for the Dragons: when they faced off against the Stallions two weeks ago, they had to take a 40-39 loss.

Leading West Point to victory were Liakoula Umuumulovo and Pauline Ocharo. Umuumulovo dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Ocharo dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds. West Point is undefeated when Umuumulovo posts 15 or more points, but 7-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayana Robinson, who posted two points and nine rebounds.

West Point's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points over those games. As for Shadow Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

West Point has already played their next game, a 70-24 defeat against Valley Vista on the 7th. As for Shadow Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-25 loss against Cesar Chavez on the 7th.
