Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Mountain Grizzlies vs. Hot Springs County Bobcats

The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies will take on the Hot Springs County Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rocky Mountain comes in on three and Hot Springs County on four.

Rocky Mountain is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Shoshoni: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Rocky Mountain blew Shoshoni out of the water with a 53-19 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Grizzlies had established a 28 point advantage.

Rocky Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauren Bassett led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Bassett a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Shelby Wambeke, who posted ten points and four steals.

Rocky Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Hot Springs County against Greybull on Saturday as the team secured a 64-33 victory. The contest marked the Bobcats' most dominant win of the season.

Hot Springs County is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Rocky Mountain, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Rocky Mountain strolled past Hot Springs County when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a score of 41-24. Will Rocky Mountain repeat their success, or does Hot Springs County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
