Baseball Game Preview: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. Coronado Islanders

The Mission Hills Grizzlies are taking a road trip to take on the Coronado Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Coronado took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mission Hills, who comes in off a win.

Mission Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Helix. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Grizzlies as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Brody Agonia was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Preston Waller and Micah Mecucci did most of the damage at the plate: Waller went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Mecucci went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Mission Hills is 3-1 when Mecucci posts two or more runs, but 8-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dominic Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Mission Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Helix only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Coronado unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 5-1 to St. Augustine.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Mission Hills, their record now sits at 11-17.
