Softball Recap: Cave Spring Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Cave Spring's offense. They fell just short of the William Byrd Terriers by a score of 2-0 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered since March 14, 2024.

Cave Spring saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Bradberry, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Cave Spring has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for William Byrd, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cave Spring will square off against Pulaski County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for William Byrd, they will take on Blacksburg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
