Football Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matchups, Columbus finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by the Spencer Greenwave and fell 28-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Blue Devils were not able to get on the board.

Andrew Smith Iv threw for 84 yards on seven of 12 attempts. Will Seals was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards. On the ground, Rayshaun Glover rushed for 27 yards.

With the loss, Columbus broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2. As for Spencer, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, Columbus will take on Sumter County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 6.3 points per game this season, so the Blue Devils' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Spencer, they will face off against Hardaway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greenwave will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.78 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
