Baseball Recap: Douglas Takes a Loss

Douglas suffered their closest defeat since April 12, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sahuarita Mustangs by a score of 4-2. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Isidro Hoyos was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, Douglas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andres Hoyos, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Douglas' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for Sahuarita, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2-1 record this season.

Douglas will challenge ALA - Gilbert North at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sahuarita, they will face off against Nogales at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
