Mingo Central extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-12. They lost 14-2 to the Sherman Tide. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tide this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in March.
Mingo Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Newsome, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Keziah Joplin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Sherman, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
On Sherman's side, Colby Atkins and Brayden Hamrick were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Atkins tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Hamrick struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). What's more, Atkins posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. At the plate, Atkins got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Hamrick went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Luke Tagliente was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Skeens, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mingo Central will welcome Tug Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sherman, they will face off against Wahama at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
