Clay County entered their tilt with Cannon County on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 30-21.

When it comes to explaining why Cannon County lost, don't look at Eli Garrett. Despite the final result, he threw for 296 yards and three TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes. Garrett is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Miles Alexander was Garrett's top target, picking up 128 receiving yards and one score.

Clay County's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cannon County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Clay County will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Middle Tennessee Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cannon County, they will face off against Smith County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
