Basketball Recap: Ponchatoula's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Ponchatoula had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Hammond Tornadoes 68-47. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-40 on January 10th.

Hammond lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Broderick Peters, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds. Peters is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Justin Harland, who posted ten points.

Ponchatoula is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Hammond, they moved to 15-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Ponchatoula will challenge Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ponchatoula's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games. As for Hammond, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-61 win against Covington on the 29th.
