Softball Game Preview: Copper Hills Grizzlies vs. Herriman Mustangs

Copper Hills hasn't had much luck against Herriman recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. Neither Copper Hills nor Herriman posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Copper Hills came up short against Riverton on Thursday, falling 16-2. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Copper Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dannaca Moss, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Herriman faced Bingham in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Miners, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Herriman also got a great performance from Sierra Prescott as she struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and not a single walk). Prescott has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddy Maxfield, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Copper Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Herriman, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Copper Hills has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. However, it's not like Herriman struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Copper Hills couldn't quite get it done against Herriman when the teams last played last Wednesday as they fell 6-3. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
