Baseball Recap: Tipton Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Varsity Opponent

Tipton Christian Academy got themselves on the board against Varsity Opponent on Monday, but Varsity Opponent never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Varsity Opponent. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Athens McCullar made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Tipton Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Tipton Christian Academy let Tristin Jones and Sam Harris White run wild. Jones went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while White went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Marcy, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Tipton Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Tipton Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-12.
