Baseball Recap: Woodmore Find Success

Woodmore had won three straight on the road, but on Monday they bumped up to 13-8 to make it four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers, sneaking past 7-5. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Keil Almroth made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs.

In other batting news, Michael Seeger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Woodmore is undefeated when Seeger posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Calvin Lipstraw, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Woodmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary Central Catholic only posted a batting average of .120.

As for St. Mary Central Catholic, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-5 record. The loss was just more heartbreak for they who fell 3-1 when the teams previously met back in April of 2025.

On St. Mary Central Catholic's side, Cayden Wikel made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Panthers beat Woodmore by a score of 12-7 later that day.
