Recap: Montgomery Tigers vs. Calvin Cougars
The Montgomery Tigers waltzed into Thursday's game with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 62-53 victory over Calvin. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Montgomery also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2018.
Montgomery's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Z Gates led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Gates has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. K. Wyatt was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Montgomery's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-5. As for Calvin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Montgomery won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Mary at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Calvin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Downsville at 6:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
