Volleyball Recap: Marquette Mustangs vs. Eureka Wildcats
On Friday, Marquette faced Eureka in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Marquette Mustangs came up short against the Eureka Wildcats, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on October 9th.
Marquette was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Eureka work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 32-30, 25-23.
Mallory Sell paced Marquette's offense, picking up 15 kills. Sell got some help from
Maggie Smith and her 36 assists.
Harper Highfill was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 15 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last five games she's played.
Marquette's loss dropped their record down to 20-14. As for Eureka, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-14 record this season.
