Baseball Recap: Greater Johnstown Takes a Loss

Greater Johnstown extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Central Dragons, falling 23-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 12-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-4. Considering they have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Central's part, Kyle Klotz was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Jay Hoenstine was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Coming up, Greater Johnstown will take on Somerset at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will square off against Penn Cambria at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight.
