Preview: Kerman vs. El Diamante
Kerman is 0-3 against El Diamante since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Kerman Lions will head out on the road to take on the El Diamante Miners at 6:00 p.m. Kerman will be strutting in after a win while El Diamante will be coming in after a loss.
Kerman has not lost a match since January 12th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Washington Union a 2-0 shutout. That's two games straight that Kerman has won by exactly two goals.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Edgar Garcia and
Jonathan Velasquez, who scored both of Kerman's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 27 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for El Diamante's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Golden West on Thursday. The shutout was out of character for El Diamante seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in December of 2023.
Kerman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6-6 record this season. As for El Diamante, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6-5.
Kerman might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from El Diamante in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. Can Kerman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
