There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
Welcome
The power rankings welcomes a newcomer to the scene as Jackson earned the 24th spot after its strong showing last week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Stranahan, finishing up at 38 - 0. Jackson gave the Stranahan offensive line some real trouble with nine sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on American Heritage this Friday).
Can't Touch This
Hialeah's 42 - 0 win over North Miami Beach last week had a lot to do with the leadership of junior Ryle Aguila. Aguila threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns. That performance made Aguila one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between American Heritage (5th in the power rankings) and Cardinal Gibbons (8th). American Heritage lost to Cardinal Gibbons 24 - 14. The team got a solid performance out of senior Tyler Jones (he picked up 145 yards on the ground); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Central (1st in the power rankings) and Northwestern (11th). Central will be strutting in after a win while Northwestern will be stumbling in from a defeat. We'll see if Central can add another positive mark to its record or if Northwestern can shake off its loss and take the spring out of Central's step.
