Mountain Brook is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Lincoln County. Mountain Brook put the hurt on Lincoln County with a sharp 9-3 victory. Considering the Spartans have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Mountain Brook is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Lincoln County's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-5.

Coming up, Mountain Brook will venture away from home to take on St. Edward at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln County, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-1 defeat against Clarksville Academy on the 28th.
