Baseball Recap: Portland Comes Up Short

Portland fell victim to Haddam-Killingworth and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 1-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Portland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Wells, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Portland's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Haddam-Killingworth, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portland will welcome East Hampton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders are facing the Bellringers at the right time seeing as the Bellringers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Haddam-Killingworth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cromwell at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
