Preview: Trinity Christian Lions vs. Hobbs Eagles
The Trinity Christian Lions will be playing at home against the Hobbs Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Trinity Christian strolled past Canyon with points to spare, taking the game 54-39. Given Trinity Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Canyon is ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Centennial scored an imposing 74 points on Tuesday, Hobbs still came out on top. Hobbs had just enough and edged Centennial out 77-74. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hobbs.
Abraham Pe?a was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jairus Turrubiates, who scored 7 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Trinity Christian has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Hobbs, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Trinity Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Hobbs in their previous matchup back in January, winning 63-52. Will Trinity Christian repeat their success, or does Hobbs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
